Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is fully aware of England’s international quality and has saidthey have the potential to win both the upcoming Eurosand the 2022 World Cup.
Gareth Southgate’s side have avoided defeat in their last six matches and conceded just one goal in the process, with their recent friendly against Wales endingin a 3-0 win.
Belgium meanwhile have gone 13 games without a loss but were held to a 1-1 draw against the Ivory Coast on Thursday.
De Bruyne was rested for that match and is fully aware of the threat England will pose at Wembley on Sunday as he predicts a big few years for the Three Lions.
“I think they should be very excited. It’s a very young team with a lot of potential,” De Bruyne said of England.
“I think they should aim to win the next Euros and World Cup. I think they have that potential.
“There are always a lot of teams who want to win it, but I think the team they have, the players who play in top clubs, they should do that.”
Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has also backed Southgate’s sidefor imminent success with the former Everton manager adamant silverware is on its way.
“Southgate’s players are as good as anyone individually in world football and it is just a matter of time that they will get that trophy or major result in a major tournament,” Martinez said.
Both England and Belgium were knocked out at the semi-final stage of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, while the pair both failed to make it past the quarter-finals at Euro 2016.
The two nations last faced each other at the World Cup two years ago, with Martinez’s side winning both their group-stage clash and theirthird-place playoff.
